This just in – anesthesiologists get bad rap courtesy of tonight’s episode of Gray’s Anatomy.  The show opens with a woman having a large abdominal surgery who becomes very tachycardic while her anesthesiologist is reading a magazine.  She is shown moving her head and blinking her eyes – indicating that she is indeed awake during her surgery.  The next scene is when the attending surgeon criticizes the anesthesiologist for making lots of money for little work and not doing an adequate job of it!  This is quite dramatized, I must say.   There are so many things wrong about the situation, which I will elaborate in another post.  But the show is still on right now, so look for a follow up blog posting with clips from the show tomorrow.  I just had to put something up tonight!
