Blood Spinning-a new blend

This controversy about blood spinning that Tiger Woods had been treated with is interesting. Take some blood from a patient and spin it down in a centrifuge. Discard the red cells, so all that is left is the plasma and platelets. Add calcium and a clotting substance called thrombin. The mixture becomes a gel. The platelets then produce natural growth hormones which helps heal injuries and can even promote muscle growth. I have not seen this used frequently in the operating room after any major knee or hip surgery. Sounds a little hoakie to me personally. If it was a dream cure to hasten healing then I guess it would be more popular. Not a forefront treatment at this time.
